I am trying to configure BCMS Vu server in an IBM Blade Server have OS as Win2000 server.
This IBM server doesnt have onboard Parallel port but it has add-on PCI board which is having a parallel port.

On running BCMS server it gives me error of Hardware Lock not found, Despite the Parallel port works fine with attached parallel printer.

Can anybody share some thought on it.
Does BCMS vu works only with onboard parallel port?
Is their any wayaround.?
thanks

I have no idea how the hardware lock works, but maybe its looking for it on a specific IRQ or interupt. I assume the PCI LPT1 is on a different IRQ and interupt from a "normal" set up.

The BCMSVu dongle will not work correctly or not at all if used though a PCI Parallel card. You might want to speak to your Avaya supplier and see if you can swap your parellel port dongle for a USB dongle. If you are lucky you will have to make sure your BCMSVu build is at least 228 and you will also have to install some sentinal hardlock software. The next version (R2V4 or whatever it is called) will have inbuilt support for the USB dongle.

We have a relatively new installation of BCMS Vu (R2 V3.2 Build 228) and have the USB dongle for it. The folks at Avaya were rather surprised that we had it and driver support for the USB dongle was not on the BCMS CD. We had to download it from Rainbow Technologies but one we had it we had an almost pain-free installation.

We had a similar parallel port lock for the old IP Office and that only liked being on a native parallel port as well.

Side tip: For whatever reason, BCMS really does NOT like running on dual-processor servers. They mean that one in the hardware specifications.
