I have a customer with a BCM 1000 the call pilot voice mail is shot. When they use any features to access the voice mail it just sits there and then goes to inactive feature. they tried a reboot the phone switch came back up but still no voice mail. Any Ideas; I just read another thread about bad caps and motherboards and wondered about that, so were checking the NT number. I was looking to see if any one else had an idea.

Thanks

Had a similar issue last year on a BCM400 3.6

It proved to be a corrupt keycode. The solution was to delete all keycodes from system, and then re-install.

This cleared the issue, not sure if this will help.

What the model Number ie: NT7B10??

Can you access BCM though Serial port? If, it's probally the BFT.

How do you get rid of the key codes if you don't have a virgin image?

We have had 3 BCM 1000's that the voice mail went down and we could not access Unified Manager. Two of them had the Portway motherboards that had bad capacitors. The third had a bad Portway motherboard and a corrupt hard drive. You can take the cover off the unit and inspect the capacitors. They will usually be rounded at the top. There is a bulletin at Nortel's website concerning this problem. They have extended the replacement time. It is not difficult to replace the motherboard. The problem is getting one in a timely manner.

The last info I got from Nortel was they have discontinued the replacement of the BCM 100 motherboard as of 12/05. Do you have a PAA or clarify Bullrtin number if they have extended it.

I just opened the bulletin up and it is bulletin number 2005006015 version 2. They have extended it to 12/31/2006.

I would check to see if the harddrive is even spinning. I deal with a customer with 400 BCM 1000s, and we are replacing HDD at the rate of 1-2 a month.

To troubleshoot, try putting a computer monitor to the front of the BCM and reboot. This will allow you to see the boot up screen to verify if the BCM can read the HDD and check to see if your RAM is reporting 256 MB.
