BCM 50 LINES

we have a new BCM 50 i just put it the Client patch. The system is acting funny they have 3 lines and if i pick up line 63 it works if i hang up and dial again the dial tone will sound different and the cal wont go through. its like the dial pad doesnt work.
has anyone had any similar problems?

Is this a Rls 1 or Rls 2?

We are having somewhat similar problems with a release 1.
 
The reason for my question is that I had a Rls 1 that had a similar problem. It was the trunk damage problem that Nortel has a bulletin on. They sent me a special cable and I put that on the system. I had to replace the BCM because the port was damaged.

No its a release 2 i applied the one patch that they have out for it not that it has anything to do with lines. but it just seems like every other call will have a different sounding dial tone and act as if the system doesnt recognize the dial pad.
if you guys got any ideas let me know
 
Take your buttset and get on the line in question and see if there are any problems there. Of course you will want to disconnect the BCM from that line. If all is well on that line but coming out of the BCM you have problems, the port may be bad. You still may have a problem with Telco that caused the port to go bad.

here is the craaazzzyyy part the lines from telco are fine i checked those a few times to be sure. but heres an example if i try to make a call from the phone i dial the number and i get dial tone and the end of the string. BUT if i dial the # with the buttset on then the call will go through, and its happening about every other call.

Does the dial tone sound really strange? If it does I had the same type problem and I had to replace the BCM.

yea it doesnt sound smooth like the regular dial tone does. this one sounds more high pitched. so you guys replaced the BCM dang i was hoping i wouldnt have to do that.
 
Do you have your line treatment set to Short, Medium, or Long CO?
 
Yea we have changed all the line treatments and the OHMS from 600 to 900 and from long to short to medium in all kinda combinations. it just seems to grab that funky dial tone.
 
Alright guys well both of these BCM 50s were manufactured on the same date and nortel finally is going to send out another new BCM 50 from another manufacturing date so they are calling them OBF so thanks alot for everyones help.
 
Have the same problem with both release 1 and 2 BCM50 at multiple sites. We have 2 telco providers where I am located and this problem is only apparent with 1 of the providers, and never the other. Also, Line issue only affects lines 3 and up, never 1 and 2.

Have tried system swaps, nortel provided (padded)RJ21 cable, calls to the telco provider (line is noise free at demarc) with no success.

We traced problem in release 1 to the Service Update 2 patch from nortel. BCM is fine before patch, and after patch line noise occurs. Level 2 reset to defaults, noise gone.

With release 2 we have found no solution as of yet and are working with Nortel for resolution.

I'd really like to hear from anyone who has come across this issue since it would be "Very" helpful to me.

Actually we got 3 bad systems they were all released on the same date which i believe is 2007/28 im not positive because we already sent them back but like i said we got three that were bad with the same problem on the same release date so they sent us out a older version and it works just fine.
