bcm 50 5.0

Hello All,
Newbie to BCM world with only a few installs under my belt. Have a client that has asked about BCM50 5.0, i've asked my supplier when its set to come out, I'm still waiting to hear..does anyone have any concrete info about release? I've heard Jan 2010....otherwise if client purchases 3.0 would their be an upgrade patch to bring it up to 5.0? Thanks in advance

You might want to check into your supplier a little closer. If they didn't know the 5.0 was already released for sale, it makes me wonder if they're an authorized distributor or vendor.

Im in Canada too and I don't know any authorized vendors that are not aware of the 5.0. All ortel partners were made well aware of the release dates and most had to send sales reps for training before they were allowed to sell the stuff.

UK vendors seem to be aware, but Nortel haven't been too forthcoming with keycode options for 5.0 here yet.

I've upgraded one system from 2.0 to 5.0 and do have an annoying issue with alarms abotu 'Router not present'. This is far worse when the SU-001 patch is applied as it happens every minute or so. Without that patch it happens occasionally, but other thigns aren't quite right. Services somtiems fail on startup (which is fixed by SU-001).

While these are not directly service affecting, the alarms are annoying, and while they can be 'turned off' it would be good for Nortel to fix this. I'm holding off upgrading more until this is resolved.

Hopefully a new patch will be available soon.

Thanks for the advise it may be best to wate until all those things get ironed out
