1)what time frame
2) what steps
3) what issues to look forward to
4) any info would be great

thanks

I'm guessing that you are going to a BCM 450?. That will mean new hardware cabinet etc.

I've never done a 3.7 to 6.0 upgrade, only one to 4.0. Would you still have to go via this method first and then get it converted to the 450 release?.

All the best

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

Yes im keeping the BCM 400 chasis but replacing the BFT,Hard drive,Fan

And yes I will need to go to 4.0 first then onward.

Depending on how much time you have and how big the system is it may be faster to re key system than go thru all the upgrade paths.

If you want to start New then don't upgrade the 3.7 system as you will be dumping the Hard drive anyway

You get the new hard drive 6.0. plus hardware as you have mentioned.

The actual upgrade is a keycode from 3.7 to 4.0
Then 4.0 to rel6.

You don't physically upgrade as you would normally do on a 3.7 unless you want to use the Data Migration Manager

For systems running software versions earlier than BCM Rls 4.0 (e.g. BCM Rls 3.6 or Rls 3.7), there are two options:

a. Upgrade the system to BCM 4.0 first using the appropriate upgrade procedures. This will allow usage of the Data Migration Manager application to extract configuration data from the source BCM Rls 4.0 system and apply that to the upgraded BCM Rls 6.0 system.

OR

b. Upgrade the system directly from its current software version. This will require a complete manual reconfiguration. It will still be necessary to upgrade the keycodes in KRS to BCM Rls 4.0 first to allow subsequent migration of the keycodes to BCM Rls 6.0.

I would also recommend the program fresh option. The 2 step process takes at least 5 hours, so you can reprogram from scratch faster. Plus you won't copy over any residual corruption.
