Dear All
I need to configure Barcode Scanner(Symbol)
for now its working but the problem is for every item user has to click on NLU key then scan from barcode
i gave the NLU numbers for each items
Is there any other way to configure Barcode Scanner in micros so that user just begin check and scan from barcode and no need to click on screen again & Again

Thanks

Fortunately this is actually rather simple; the only really sticky situation you might run into is if you need to be able to accept all bar-codes including international. I had a hell of a time getting that to work at an International Farmers Market a few months back.

The first thing you need to do is define which NLU Group you will be putting bar-coded items in. Open POS Configurator and go to the System tab. Click on Restaurant, and then go to the NLU Groups tab. Choose an NLU Group that you will hence forth put all bar-coded items in; in my case, I just chose 2 as this site wasn't using NLU Groups for anything else.

Once you have that set-up, you will need to tell each menu item that it is a member of this NLU Group. To do so is simple; edit the menu item, and in its general tab, set NLU Group to whatever you set in the previous step.

On a side note, if you plan to do anything like variable weight bar-codes, you have to enable the check digit in Micros first. To do so, go to POS Configurator, and then the Revenue Centers tab. Once there, click on RVC Transactions and then go to the Retail tab. Check "Bar-code has check digit". Once you do this, you can make variable weight bar-codes function properly.

Out of curiosity, do you plan to do anything extra, like print bar-codes on customer receipts for things like discounts, or even for cashiers to be able to pickup and pay out their checks?

Oh I also forgot to mention, if you are doing variable weight bar-codes, instead of assigning it to the NLU Barcode group, you assign it to the NLU Barcode group + 1. So in this example any variable weight item would need to be put in NLU Group 3.

Thanks For you reply Mr Moregelen
I will try as per your instructions

Hi Mr Moregelen
Its Working Fine with me the only issue is that
Is there any way that we do not have to click NLU Key again & again to post items
Like when i click on Barcode NLU KEy then i scanned barcode it post the item and NLU Screen disappear and for next item i have to click on NLU Key again
User want he will click NLU Key one time and finish their order by scanning barcodes
then closed check (This is an retail Shop)

Thanks

It you set it up the way I said to, you shouldn't need to press any keys at all. Just start a check and scan.

Hi Mr Moregelen
I will try as per you
Your last link is not working

Hi Mr Moregelen
I have tried same as you told in last posting but still its not posting items on check
when i am scanning from barcode scanner i can see scan numbers on top of the screen but not posting items
Sorry one more thing i forgot to tell you that i am using USB Scanner may be this is the issue

Thanks for you reply

That is the issue, yes. You're scanner is acting as a keyboard wedge meaning its no different than plugging in a USB keyboard and typing the numbers. I'm unsure if you can setup a USB scanner as a scanner peripheral in micros. I've only ever run it off of either COM1 or COM5.
