I would check and make sure the Remote Agent is installed. Go to that server and do Add/Remove programs and see if it is listed.

hi
i did install Remote agent. i event try use User defined selection to manually add the server. the back up job fail with error message licence violation and access to \\computer_ipaddress is not authorise with this edition of this product

Are you sure it installed properly? Did you check the remote server to make sure it's loaded? Did you go to Backup Exec, select Help, select About Backup Exec and make sure the license for Remote Agent is listed?

Also, what version do you have of Backup Exec and what is the OS that you are trying to connect to? For example: BE for Windows will NOT backup Novell. There is a separate version for that. It also won't backup UNIX or Oracle, there are separate Agents for those.
