I have a Partner 308 ACS, with voice mail 6.0 & a 6-Port card that will access the voice mail. Every now and then it busy's out. No one can access the voice mail, they get a fast busy. To correct this I need to power down the whole system, reseat the 6-Port card and power up. This keeps happing every 6 weeks or so and with every power failure. I do have a UPS in place. Does anyone know why this keeps happing and what can be done to correct it...?

Thnaks,
George

If, during the time that people cannot access the voicemails, you reach a busy signal when trying to access each of the 6 voicemail ports and/or the auto attendant does not answer incoming calls, I would guess that the hard drive is on the way out.

I was told by a avaya tech today to replace the 6-port card. But he's not 100% sure either. So I have done that and time will tell if the problem persists.

Thanks for your help

YOU SAID: "This keeps happing every 6 weeks or so and with every power failure. I do have a UPS in place."

I still think it's the UPS. Sounds like the UPS is not providing enough juice during the power outage. To me, it sounds like the cabinet is always getting power, however not enough and perhaps only 1 card is staying up during the power intruption, while the other card is getting powered down. My money is on the Processor not getting enough power.

I seriously doubt that it is the 6-port license card - most likely the hard drive in the messaging is locking up. I have replaced many messaging modules, but NEVER a license card.

There is a PCN on the messaging. If you can connect to the serial port when it is not answering calls, or simply during boot up, you may see a continous sequence, and another reboot may get it past that problem.

Otherwise, replace the module.
