It appears there has been little fanfare but today is the release date for CM5.0 in case anyone is interested.

Avaya has already placed a significant amount of documentation out on the support web site so you may want to at least look at What's New in Avaya Communication Manager for Release 5.0.

Some new features

-Adminstrable IPSI Socket Sanity Timeouts
-Avaya IA 770 in CM5.0 supports Internet Messaging. I like getting my v-mail in my e-mail inbox.
-S8300 Co-Resident SIP Enalbement Services - for ICC platforms integrates PBX-VMAIL-SIP on one server.
-EC500 Confirmed Answer - nice privacy enhancement.
-XoIP Tone Detection Bypass - does not require tone detection to go into pass-through mode.
-G450 - increased capacity for branch locations beyond the G250/G350 or single G700.
-S8730 Media Server - Introduces HDD and PWR redundancy (optional configuration) in addition to mirrored servers. Supports https server for IP Phone file downloads.

Has anyone looked at the new support options. They are crazy. Basically, they are forcing you to buy full maintenance, oh & now software & hardware are 2 different support options. it seems like the big A is trying to get rid of people. Look at the example they released, a new system for 100 users, will cost about $9K a year, just in maintenance!!!!!

I am waiting on pricing for maintenance for CM5, but I actually like being able to keep software only support. At Avaya's prices it is much cheaper for us to keep spare boards in house. We're probably going to keep HW support only on the S8700 and S8500 servers and keep spares for all our boards and gateways. We're currently paying about $6000/month for maintanence (2 8700, 18500, 40 G350/G700s w/ 8300 LSPs)
