My client has an Avaya Partner system. The Avaya tech told the client they could hook up an MP3 player to work as a Music On Hold system. The problem is that the input jack on the Avaya board appears to be smaller in diameter than the standard MP3 3.5 mm input jack. Does anyone know whether Avaya has a special sized (proprietary?) jack that needs to be used in order to plug in? If the size is unique, do you know the size and where I might be able to get a male to male connection cable? Please advise.

The plug on the partner is a standard RCA jack. You can get a 3.5 to RCA cable at any electronics store. they are less that $5.

Sometimes it is possible to use a knife to remove some of the plastic jacket around the barrel of the plug. Radio Shack sells various RCA plugs and some of the slimmer models should fit without too many hassles. [smile]

Another Thing to keep in mind, if not allready known. Let the Customer know to use licence free music on the MOH. Or to get a License from a ASCAP licensing company.
I saw several years ago a company somewhere out west get in trouble for broadcasting an AM Radio station over there MOH. During that time the MLB had a game playing over the station. The Customer was issued a Cease and desist order from a legal Representative of MLB.... Its a long shot for it to happen, But not sure if the cost is worth the chance.
