Anyone using Avaya for Maintenance on the Octel 250/350? These have been rock solid and our current vendor has provided excellant support. BUT, anyone switched to Avaya and would they (if you had experience) sweeten the maintenance deal with upgrading older s/w to their current level 3.11? They use to advertise upgrading over the internet (or so I read somewhere) if you were a customer...

Thanks

When I worked at Avaya, I only worked on Intuity and Octel 100, but I know that on those systems Avaya sometimes gave free upgrades even if u don't have maintenance. This is the case with Mach 5 5.0 Intuitys. They just send out a Cd rom and u do the upgrade. But in other cases, even if there is a patch or new version, they only do it if u have a problem that will be fixed by that upgrade or patch. Talk to Avaya, they have promotions at some times that they do equipment or upgrades for free when u buy something. U can look at avaya.com or support.avaya.com

We are a business partner of Avaya’s and I have not seen them give out a free software upgrade for many years.

The upgrade to 3.11 will cost you something if you are below 3.0 as there is new memory that must be added to the CCF card.

We can help you if you would like.

Thanks

Has information on known problems on your system, and how to fix them.
And far as using the web to obtain information for non maintenance customers; I think that will end in the future. Nortel requires that u be a paying customer to use their support site and I imagine Avaya will go that way too. So if u need to download documentation or whatever I would do it now just in case.
