Good afternoon all, I need to replace a 7.5 CP-PM Sig Server with a CP-DC Sig Server. I have been searching for a process for this and have come up empty. Would any of you folks now of a document out there ?

Lots of things come to mind on this one. What's wrong with the CPPM? Bad Hard drive or what? Is this your Primary Security Server or a member server? If the CPPM card is just bad then you will have to start by installing the Linux, base patch it, deploy it and then service pack it. This can get very complicated.

Thanks for the reply. It is a member server one of two in this PBX. We are replacing all the CP-PM with CP-DC, it was recommended by Avaya Support. I ready have software loaded and patched. I did get a couple different opions on how to go about replacing it. Just looking to see if there was something official out there .

If you used the same host name and IP from the CPPM, not a lot to do. Just remove the CPPM and power up the CPDC. If it is a follower sig server, then just go into your Node information and add it to the environment and synchronize.

How much did they sting yor for, for their recommendation. CPPM works fine in my opinion.

Are the hard drives the same? Maybe just a hard drive swap to the new card if they are the same. I agree though, CPPM works fine.

I passed on Avaya's recommendation to customer they bought in. The bigger hard drive is the difference as far as I know. Also when patching it certainly seems to go faster with the CPDC. If I remember correctly Avaya said the CP-PM's were coming to EOD. Thanks agian for the reply's. You all have a Great Day

Yep, you can't order CPPM's any more. My bet is the CPDC is a faster processor also. I haven't installed any of the single slot CPDC's but I have the double wide card for the IPE's and they seem to work fine. But truth be known the COTS is probably a better way to go.

CPPM hard drive is an IDE where the CPDC is SATA, so there is no swapping between them. There is also a memory limitation (Max 2GB) on the CPPM, so if you were ever to upgrade to 7.6, you are limited to what applications can co-reside on the server. Any new CPDC should now be coming with 4GB standard, so there are no limitations for 7.6. Overall, the CPDC seems to be a very solid server. I haven't had any issues with them at all.

Hi,

Etown, one question popped into my mind reading your comments. Did avaya recommend you to swap the CPPM cards, but they did not provide you with information on how to do it?

For the comment about not being able to buy CPPM's anymore, what about the call server? Are we not able to buy a new HA system anymore? I think you mean that we can't buy CPPM cards including a 40Gb HD for SS purposes, but for the CS you can.
