I have distributed a Crystal 8 report, but I want to connect to the database automatically without the need to prompt the user for a password. Any ideas ? It's an Oracle database.

Cheers,

Bobster

Well I've searched and I haven't found anyway to create an automatic logon through the crystal reports application. I have done it by creating a Visual Basic application which will generate the report for the end user. Crystal Reports has built in tools to work with VB in order to do this. The VB application can automatically log on, generate the report and allow the user to view it etc. It's pretty simple to do in VB if you've worked with VB before. However, this may be more than you want to tackle though if your not a programmer by nature. If your worried about your users having access to the database via your username and password, your DBA can probably set you up with a generic username and password with read only access for the end users of your report. Good luck.

Good Luck,
CrystalVisualBOracle :)

You can't do this with compiled reports. Only with the front end.
