Autofilter changes the markerstyle/symbol of data points

Hi guys -

I have a scatterplot chart-sheet with over 1000 data points. I have changed the markerstyle of points with a vba sub, but when I apply an autofilter to the data, most of the points on the chart turn into x's (a symbol that is used on my chart, although not much). However, it is important for my purposes that the data points keep their normal symbol even when filtered.

Any wisdom or suggestions would be much appreciated.
