I currenly have an Excel spreadsheet to do the following job. I work for a haulage company in the UK and every afternoon/night vehicles arrive at our depot for the sortation of parcels.

Each seperate supplier has a seperate column on my spreadsheet and each delivery location has a seperate row.

when all of the information is gathered it is entered into the spreadsheet in batches by supplier, that is to say it is entered into the column from top to bottom enabling really rapid input of data.

each supplier sends goods every day (monday to Friday) and we have 300 seperate locations to deliver to which are all visited daily.

I would like to use acces to manage this data as the excel workbook does everything but is getting too large (9MB) to be practical, I also need to have a more flexible means of providing reports.

I have everything else in place but cannot figuer out how to have a datasheet view that has the left hand colum populated with a list of all 300 delivery points and the top row populated with the list of suppliers enabling me to enter data at least as fast as i currently can.

Any ideas welcomed

In the table design mode there is a bottom section where you can enter specific information about the field. It contains two tabs. Your answer lies in the second tab titled: Lookup

You will need to make some choices, press F1 in a field if you do not understand what it does and it will help you along.

The time invested will be well worth the outcome.

Is this enough information, if not let us know. :) JerseyBoy

thanks for the prompt reply but I am still struggling, I just don't seem to be able to grasp the practical side of this. If you have something more expicit in the way of direction I would be grateful

I have a VERY slow day here at work so I will send you a sample of what your database would look like if I envisioned your company. JerseyBoy

Oops!

You have no email that I can see, but if you list it I will send the file. JerseyBoy

That is very kind of you indeed, I am surely tearing my hair out and know that when I see it I will spend the rest of the day kicking myself. Many thanks again
