I have installed Sharepoint team services on a 2003 server. The sites run great, however, I am having a problem with authentication. Whenever a user tries to access the page they get challenged for their username and password. I am trying to set it up so the username and pass word will be authenticated through Windows without actually asking the user, just based on who they are logged onto the domain as. I have tried to set IIS6.0 to allow anonymous access, but that didn't seem to do it. Does anyone have any advice?

Thanks!!!
Randy

Hi Randy,

In order to configure Windows Integrated, you have to ensure the following;

- Under the sharepoint website, ensure that the directory security within IIS is configured as Integrated Windows Authentication.
- Ensure that the folder security is configured correctly for the appropriate users.
- Ensure that those users are logged onto the domain.
- Ensure that non of the webparts configured on the portal site require separate authentication. (if they do u may need to configure appropriate security on those sites separately)

Hope this helps

This sounds familiar. We have a w2k3 server that uses an isapi filter to redirect to a sharepoint server. Our original web address works fine, call it However, we are also having dns point an address (call it to the same webserver. When we use the second link, authentication is required. Does anyone have any ideas as to what is causing this? IIS 6.0 looks to have everything set up right.

Thanks

Dlouie
