asp code on my server does not run

on the server, in my browser, all asp code appears to no op
something must not be set up right. New server... first web site... all pages run and asp did run on someone else's server... any check list to determine what service or services are needed... do i need to load visual basic on the server??

you don't need to have vb on the server. Start up IIS in control panel > admin tools > iis then drop down the plus on the left then the web site + and then click "default website" up at the top you should see a play and a stop button, if play is black click it to start the server, if play is greyed out then click stop then wait a second, then click play. Then try saving a simple .asp file to

c:/inetpub/

http://wwwroot/test.asp

to save an asp file goto notepad and write this..

<% Response.Write NOW & &quot; Your server seems to be working now...&quot; %>

then save it as test.asp
[drive_letter]:/inetpub/

http://wwwroot/test.asp

then try visiting the page in your browser

http://localhost/test.asp

put statement both in and out of &quot;body&quot; of test... neither works site is playing in IIS management... made it the home page of the site and saved it as htm with front page.
turned on browser and got blank page displayed no errors
