ARCserve schedule issues with a library

I have a backup server with a library attached. It has 2 backup drives and 25 mag slots.
The problem I have is that sheduled jobs will fail if a job is currently running, rather than sit an wait for it to finish as on other servers with a single backup drive.

Software is Arcserve 2000 and all patches have been loaded.

Is anyone able to help?

Looks like you will have to configure groups ! We have approx 12 groups (one each for every server on the HBA). Arcserve will not allow us to create any more groups -is there a registry tweak to get round this problem ? The only other way it seems is to schedule the job to commence once the first job has finished.

Do you have the tape library option installed? This is needed for any device that has two or more tape heads.

I have the library option installed.

Also I have 2 groups configured so it allows 2 jobs to run at once but the only way to get the other jobs working at the moment is to schedule them to start after the first jobs finish.

hmm... I use a 20 slot 4 head library configured as one group - I have 5 jobs and they wait their turn (Four will run at the same time using all the heads). Sometimes I have a bad drive - only three heads. All my jobs wait their turn. Sorry - I've never experienced your particular problem.
