I have a 2003SBS with R11.1 latest SP

Open mngr ok, check device view no problems.
Put a tape in the drive and if your still in device view it will allow you to format etc.

However, if you are in say job status or open arcserve up with a tape in the drive then I canot get the device mngr to open or it opens and freezes.

Im thinking tape drive issues - Seagate DAT72 - yet the event logs are clear, no scsi errors whatsoever...

Any ideas?

Try it with a new tape or one that has been erased.

follow the recommendation in Which Driver Should I Use? faq478-3987.

Are you working local or remote in to the ARCserve Server?

Vschumpy - many thanks - I decided to clean the Dbases B4 I read your reply...

However - It was indeed the root cause of the issue.

Been using Arcserve for years and never seen that one b4.

davidmichael - again your input is as allways welcome and appreciated.

Thanks Team.

Good day from the VI,

I hope this document solves my probs. I have had nothing but problems with the 11.5 release; backups crashing on a regular basis when trying to backup exchange; database corruption requiring reinstall of the DB (per CA support). And of course, CA support not being able to solve the issues.

Some promising options in the document referenced in this thread. Thanx for the redirect.
