Arcserve 2000 agent backups

Good Day,

I'll try my best to explain this properly.

I am currently using Arcserve 2000 to back up 12 servers. on these 12 servers i have 12 client agents for windows 2000 installed.

During my daily backup, i usually have to put in a 2nd tape which is no biggie.

I've found a few issues lately.

1. When arcserve asks me for the 2nd tape i usually see a log message stating "unable to find blank media" which is normal but the next error message is what makes me a little nervous "Unable to E8522 Unable to receive data from client agent" Could this be just because the first tape popped out?

2. Two 2000 agents on two of my servers are showing me incomplete jobs while the arcserve 2000 manager states that both servers were backed up properly. which one should i believe?

what happens here is the following:

- the backup runs to tape from a certain client but the tape gets filled completely and the job asks for a second tape.
- the client job, which is still active has a default timeout setting of 20 minutes.
- If you are not able to provide a second tape cartridge within this period of 20 minutes the client (who cannot send it's data to the backup server) will give the 8522 error.

I would say your backup is NOT succesful

Thank you for your response. I've checked my arcserve settings, is there anywhere i can change the default timeout to longer than 20 minutes?
 
I've looked into the timeout session within the registry and changed the following values within Arcserve and also on the client agent in question.

Receive Timeout and Send Timeout within the registry have been changed from the default 20min to 2 hours and i am still receiving the same error.

Any suggestions?
