I'm using Apache Webserver 1.3.17 on Windows NT.
I need help with user authentication. I want to use the .htaccess method to protect specific web directories (which is why I chose Apache over IIS) but I can't seem to get past the requirement to have a Windows/NT network login in addition to the username/password combination from the .htXXXXX files.
In other words, the .htaccess protections works, but only if there is a corresponding NT user account, and this is unacceptable.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
