Hello
I have currently been assigned the task of maintaining a very valuable oracle database. What I would like to know is if anyone has a very secure procedure or software packages etc to aid in data protection from system disasters such as partial failure, full system failure, destruction or machine and building etc. I was looking at data mirroring internally, with network replication onto a second backup machine along with some tape backup and storage offsite. Does this seem like a good plan or is there too much data transferring and not enough system file copying etc. Am worring about copying files that are open and in use as the system is to have very minimal downtime for copying. Is there software that can copy open files etc. I would like to hear comments and suggestions from this group. It is an Oracle DB running on Win NT4 server SP5
Cheers Marc
