Greetings All,

I just installed my first Lucent/Avaya Partner phone system in a small office with three incoming lines. When an incoming call rings, and I press the corresponding button to pickup the ringing line, the user can hear a dialing sequence before the call is connected? Is this normal? I've not run into something like this before.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Is there caller ID on any of the phone lines? [ponder]

Yes, The incoming lines do have Caller ID. If I press the incoming line button without lifting the handset, it will display the CID information on the display. When the handset is lifted, the dialing tones can be heard through the handset. The caller can not hear them however.

Thanks.

I believe you have misprogrammed your extensions into Hunt Group 7, which is reserved for the Voice Mail ports, NOT the extensions with voice mail boxes. When a voice mail port answers a call, "mode codes", which are Touch-Tone digits are dialed so the voice mail system will know how to handle the call.

So, go into System Programming, then #505-7-(Extension Number) and make sure it is set to 2-Not Assigned for EVERY extension number other than any voice mail ports.

I forgot about the chances that extensions might be mixed in with the voicemail ports. [purpleface]

Sweet! I think that did it. Thanks for you speedy, and right-on-the-money response
