Being pretty o'fay with things and often peeking at the knowledge base now and then to keep my self on par.

Will VM Pro run on a Sever without a sound card?
Installed it onto a Dell Server where i have full admin rights locally.
But all the wav files imported show as 0.0 seconds and when I route a call through VM i get silence. I manually checked by double clicking on the file that it looks at the correct file on the WAV folder in VMPro folder.

For and doubters Its licenced.
Services running, services rebooted.
Every thing. Is there a reason a server without a soundcard will not allow VMPRo to run correctly.

Is it worth loading media player on the server so it has some codecs to work with.

I do not have a problem with the 1 u dell servers running voicemail. They do not have a soundcard but they are running server 2003

i do it all the time. We dont have sound cards on our servers at all. I had this a while ago and it was a password entered in the vm under the admin section. Took out and restarted services and all was happy again. we use rack mount servers and they never have sound cards installed. The wavs will show as 0.0 but still always work.

We run VMPro and CCC on two Dell PowerEdge 860 servers. The wav files show the length as 0.0, but it works fine.

Just makes sure the wav files are PCM 8kHz, 16 bit mono and it should work fine.

Can't agree with you there.

We have hundreds of Dell servers (PowerEdge 850s, 860s, 1850s, 1950s and 2950s) and have a very small problem rate. We're a hosting company, so the servers get thrashed pretty hard as well.

We have an HP server with SBS 2003 and vmail pro, no problems at all.

I don't think you wav files are in there at all. I have seen this when I have imported an MDB and haven't yet imported the files into the wavs folder. do you see the 0.0 in VM pro client or in the wavs folder?

The wavs are 100% there.
Its just in the entry prompt section on the AA/VM Pro section.

Ive never come accross it before, thats why i am asking.

I've just had this happen on a HP server that has been running our VM for months. Strange...

TL.

I cant believe you just asked me that. You stripped me mentally of my 56 stars all in one foul sentence.

It would appear (Although never noticed) when a Server has no sound card, the wavs are there. But as there is no play back medium then it shows as being length of 0.0

It does work I was just being a worry wart.

Tipeter: That was mean :)

I'm sure our server has always shown the wav length before now. I just changed it to phone instead of sound card and it made no difference.

Thanks

Andrew

It is TL by the way :)

Sorry to be mean :)

Strange that it still shows 0,0

The only thing I can think of is with no Sound card then surely no audio codecs that work with the sound card, so it is unable to get the properties of the wav file.

Tipeter: Sorry I don't get the TL comment.

ProviderReborn: Yeah that would be my oonclusion as well apart from the fact I feel sure we used to see the length. I could be wrong but I am 99.9% sure I am not on this one.

Thanks

Andrew
