Like I said many questions to come, starting now...

I have a fluid <div> with overflow:auto that is my text area contained within my GUI and by default shall be 65% height. The header/footer account for 30%, 15% each, with a little 2.5% above/below buff-zone for breathing room. :)

When a user clicks the 'picture/animation' link, I would like to open up another box directly below the text area.

The text div would contract upwards to 45% height, and the new picture area would take up the remaining 20% height at the bottom.

Just not sure yet how to put that all together; the on-click, make text area smaller, create picture area.

Do you know of any way of accomplishing that without js? With CSS?

(I gotta think about my 'low bandwidth' site also).

Not with CSS

IFrames or Server Side are the other two options though neither would give the exact effect.

Javascript does not take up much bandwidth and dynamic html cannot be done without scripting surely?
