activeX association with *.rpt file

I have CR 8.5 reports running on CE 8.0. I have hyperlinks pointing to my *.rpt files. The first time a computer clicks on the file, it prompts for a download of the Crystal Viewer (ActiveX). How is the association being made between the *.rpt file and ActiveX? How do I change this? I am curious as I would like to change the reports to use the Java Viewer when I click on the link.

I can change in ePortfolio, but I'd rather not use ePortfolio.

Hi there,

It will one of a few things:

* If you set the default viewer for that user in the ePortfolio to ActiveX
* If you pass it the init command in the URL

If you haven't done any of these things then it could also be based on the browser version you are using.

Check the release notes or documentation for CE8 - I don't have those anymore - but somewhere it used to list which viewer would be used as the default based on which browser and version is being used.

Why don't you want to use ePortfolio? It would be the simplest way. You could also code it into the csp page.
