HI I am trying to use the ACtive X control. I read elsewhere that there are other solutions, and I am looking for more information on this - which to use, how to go about implementing.

All depends on what version of Crystal you are using and what development language you are using.

The Active X report viewer was available from CR 4 and was dropped in CR 8. It was replaced by the RDC (first appeared in CR 7) which requires a bit more code but which has a richer object model.

With CR 2008, the RDC has been replaced by the RAS and requires dot net framework 2.0 or better.

I'd advise against developing a new application using a component that has a limited life or is now obsolete. The market for those things can only ever get smaller over time.

THe thing is, we have programmers on site at clients sites. THe Crystal Reports that I have developed, work off of the test database and will have to be changed at the client site. We don't host the clients' database. We are using Crystal 11 but will upgrade to 2008 ( have heard it referred to as Cr 12?__

How else to allow for this change? There might be other tweaking changes as well. Also how to allow for the clients to run their reports?
