I use Accpac SM 4.2A. All my users are in a domain. Now, Accpac works only in Administrator account sessions. Anything other and i get the message

"you do not have a license to use this product."

Please has anyone had this problem? waiting for your ideas.

Thanks

Nobody has rights to the SharedData folder, e.g., N:\Pluswin or \\servername\accpac\shared. Look for the *.LIC files.

forgive me sir, i am new to accpac. What do i do when i find the *.Lic file?

Thanks

With all the other Accpac files. They also might end in PLS if you have the small business version. Search for SM42*.*.

I've given Read/Write access to the shared folder. The problem still pertains. I found the SM42.LIC file. Please advise.

Give full access, not just read-write. And make sure HKLM\Software\Accpac International\Accpac\Configuration\SharedData points there.

Hello Jay,
I've checked the software packages and it seems i have only the upgrades for system manager 3.0, 4.0, 4.2. I installed all these. Could the problem be because i don't have licenses for the original software ?

thanks

No, if you have LIC files, you're OK.

And you shouldn't have reinstalled the old software. Now you need to re-install the 4.2 service packs.

For the last time, your permissions are not correct on that folder. Set it to Everyone/Full Access.

Hi;

the easyest way is to share company folder, make a group by the name accpacusers, add all users who want to use accpac, then give full access to that group and also add it on security.

then install accpac on client, change its pc sharedata from registry to approporate value and save it.

check every client that he can access server (accpac company folder) full rights.

i hope this will help u

I forgot to say all my clients are windows XP and my server is Windows 2003. I followed all the directives you gave without success. I finally used the compatibility feature in XP to run program in Windows NT mode and it worked smoothly. i face another problem though. My setup is "programs and data on server" and the compatibilty mode cannot be set permanently for a program that is being run from the network or mapped drive. Does anyone know any workaround ?
