I am trying to use a webform that saves to a system DSN on the server (that is, the server to which I publish the web). When I go to the forms properties, (or the web settings) and try to add a connection, and choose a system DSN, it only shows system DSNs of my local PC. What I want is a DSN on the server, like it says it is supposed to show. I am guessing I have to do something else to specify the server, but I cannot figure out what. Can anyone provide assistance?

Hi Chris,

1. Are you talking about submitting a FrontPage form using the FrontPage form handler?

2. If so, could you be a little more specific about what you are trying to accomplish? I am not sure I understand the DNS reference.

3. As a general guideline, the Frontpage form requires the Frontpage server extensions in order to function as well as publishing with Frontpage to http location. So, if you were publishing to a local server, you would still need to publish to
Hope I have been of some help,
Micheal

FrontPage Form Tutorials & Form Script Examples

1. I have created a form using Front Page and want to have the results sent to a database. I am publishing this form to a local server.

2. However, what I am trying to do is use a system DSN (on the server) to send the data to that DSN and not to a database in the _fpdb directory of the published web (this is the default). The specific DNS refrence is a database that is on a network share, which I'd like to give some processing people access to so that they can complete the services entered on the webform. When I go into the settings to add a database connection, I am presented with several options. One of those is 'System data source on web server'. I am expecting to see the list of the DSNs on the server to which I am publishing (perhaps after querying the machine, or asking me which server to query) but instead it just shows me the DSNs on the machine I am authoring the web on and publishing _from_. What I am hoping to discover is how to make it show me what it says, that is, the DSNs on the web server (the maching I am publishing _to_).

Hope I was able to clear up my meaning.
Thanks for your help,
Chris
