Abandoned KSU in ceiling

Today I found an abandoned KSU in ceiling. Who would have rights to it in California or Pursuant to NEC code of removal of abandoned cable. I am in California and if anyone knows the exact code I would appreciate it. New tenant did not know of KSU nor does he have the phones for it. Please help.

when I find abandoned Equipment I tell the customer and either take it if it has worth or dumpster it

Ive never thought much about it or had any one ever come back on one

I find a few used parts in the ceiling. Just yesterday a I found a flashlight still on a hammer and channel locks and empty beer cans and a pair of lineman's pliers. I opened the ceiling tile and all the tools ended falling on my head.

The left over sheet rock saw almost killed me. I lose them all the time.
