Hi

I work at the big and solid company, the thing is though I'll have leave in two months, because I am here a co-op student. What I am looking from you guys is the advice on how should the employee like me approach the issue of staying full-time here. How should I talk to my manager so I wouldn't beg for a job or look unprofessional.

Please, advise me something, I really don't have so many people to ask about this and you're guys being always helpful, so I thought you'd help me out again.

Thanks

A few years ago, I would have advised you to simply ask your supervisor to give you an informal evaluation and discuss the possabilities during the discussion. Today, it seems more like a question of what other occupational directions have you considered? Waiter? Over the road truck driver? Janitorial aide?

At least in my geographical area, a decade of direct experience in MS. A (or VB) doesn't often even get an interview. Several employment "professionals" have suggested that the un-employment rate for IT is >>>> than the published (overall) unemployment rate, and that those who do not currently have a good postion in a stable environment should seriously consider a carear change -not in the company- but in the 'field' of endeavor.

I am, personally, willing to go just about anywhere for a 'real' job in IT, but even this seems to be a difficult target to hit.

Good luck in your pursuit of gainful employment, and when you arrive, please see if I can join you (in the gainful employment sense).
