Has anyone seen 9840 drives going into Maintenance Mode when the problem is NOT Connectivity or the drive. I am strongly suspecting bad media as the customer is reading old tapes.
This has occurred numerous times on RTD drives and each drive I have tested has tested clean.

HEy Chris, do these drives get a service required light? What is the firmware level? Could it bve the cleaning threashold is too low?

Andy

No,The service required light does not go on and the firmware level is 1.35.112. We have found that these are tapes that were written up to about 8 years ago and it could be firmware at the time was low so there may well be a compatability issue. Hopefully this will go away in a couple of months when they finish doing the restores that are going ahaead at present.
