70-284 - what is the exam like?

Hi chaps,

I'm going for my 284 next Wednesday.

I've done 270 and 290 for my MCSA/MCSE so far and I hope to get 291 in as well before Xmas.

270 was a long list of multiple-choice and multiple-answer questions with a couple of simple exhibits. It was tiring just to sit through it.

290 was a plethora of simulated desktop tasks and lots of graphical exhibits in a much smaller amount of questions. It was less numbing but more scary (the subject material to learn is broader and I'm always afraid of missing some small tick-box in the sims).

What is 284 like? Sims and practical demos, or a long list of theory questions? I'm new to Exchange and am running a test lab at home - what should I concentrate on?

Hi John,

I've seen that post, it's good.

I was hoping for any other opinions or further comments? To get more of an idea.

I'm struggling to take in all the information and have postponed the exam by a week.

I've not done that exam myself, I'm more of a SQL Server / RDBMS expert than Exchange.
Perhaps somebody else here is able to give more information.

Good luck with that exam becuase my cert will be with a speciality with MS Exchange 2003 because I am working with it now. I have a MCSE NT 40,MCP 2000 and MCP 2003. I just recently finish 70-290 and now I am working on the 70-291 but I sought of waffle for a few weeks and was not as committed,but now I am back. I have been in the field for 11 years and would recommend that anyone reading this post try to also get some telecom experience on the job as well as Exchange because you would be the point person. I should be done with everything by the end of January 2006.

Hi 4me2,

that's a high pace! I'm hoping to get the MCSA in (270, 290, 284 and 291) in by the end of Jan, I'm working part-time. Then the rest of the MCSE in the spring.

I've done the 270 and 290 in the last three weeks, but 284 is hardest for me yet. I don't have nearly as much experience with exchange as I do with Server.

I thought about doing ISA but Exchange should be useful in the 'real world'.
