5420 set

I cant remember how many 5420 series telephones can be supported on a Digital 8 station card. I am running IPO500 v2 8.0 Essential version.

I want to add 2 of these telephones to the 8 port station card but I remember having issues when I added too many of these phones to a card.

How many?

The limitation only applies to 44xx type of phones.

The limitation is for the EU24's that connect to the 5420's. (8) was the limitation of those on a system.

Im pretty sure that there is a limit to the number of 5420's on an IP Office. I had an issue about 6 months ago and I remember Tech Support said there were a limit to the number of 5420s because I did not have any add-on modules on the system.

If you have 4 DS8 cards then you will have 32 extensions without a digital module attached. I suppose that is a limit.

You are only allowed 3 DS8's but then you can add a combo, so 30

And the number of EU24 is limited by the total number of programmable buttons ( max 1000 ) OR max 8 EU24 per IP Office system.
No limit on the total number of 2420/5420 phones other then the total number of available DS ports

Hmm.. I wonder why only 3 DS8 cards. Trunking on top so no reason to reserve a slot. Leave a slot open for a VCM card or combo with vcm resources I suppose. Power supply maybe only since there is a long history of power supply issues.

I never had any problem with power supplies.... The 3 DS limit is due to hardware design, there is only one highway for DS phones with 30 channels so 3 times 8 makes 24, 4 times 8 makes 32 wich is two too many, one combocard has six which fits on the highway.

gotcha. The same reason why modules have thiry stations max instead of thirty two.

Yes, in fact a highway has 32 channels but one is for signalling and one for syncing issues, just like a EU PRI
