AIXers,

I am installing a 3com ethernet card 10/100 3com-3c905c- tx m, model. Im currently using 43p with os version 4.3.3, ihave installed all filesets and updates? How come the 3com still can not be detected? What specific fileset do i need? i tried cfgmgr, but it says something like missing fileset is devices.pci.b71000010;devices.pci.b700092. Ive been to IBM website already but there were no documents no anything that says this fileset exist. Have anyone tried to do the same thing i am doing?please give me feedbacks

hi aixgirl,

i already installed all the needed fileset even the
devices.pci.b7105090.*, everything you told me, and even the latest rml 8, is already installed.
But everytime i key in "cfgmgr -v", it always prompt,
something like looking for this specific fileset?

devices.pci.b7100010 &
devices.pci.b7100092

I looked into the AIX cds but these aren't there at all.
Do you have any idea where to get these filesets, coz i really need to install this ethernet at once. I also search the web and unfortunately i really got nothing at all.

sorry, but i really need your help on this..i guess you know more... well, actually here are the exact words that comes out of the screen

cfgmgr:0514-621:WARNING: The following device packages are required for device support but are not currently isntalled.
devices.pci.b700010:devices.pci.b7100092

where can i find this fileset.. i already went to every web site i know. I got a 3com ethernet 3C905C-tx m oki..

Sometimes when it says it is looking for a fileset that is not really there, it is not
the IBM 3 COM card......Not sure that is true or not...but I have found that sometimes
it asks for bogus filesets when there are problems with the card itself. I have even seen it when the ethernet card was an IBM card and was bad......
Does it have a part number on it......and it was feature code 2986?

Sorry, You are correct that fileset is not on any of the CDs. Maybe someone else knows....

I think you have a new and unsupported release of NIC, because what AIX is asking for is the driver set for a hardware PCI card identified by these IDs [tt]b710:0010[/tt] and you're giving [tt]b710:5090[/tt]
I hope it works...
