I have a Cm5.2.1 system where the customer says they do not populate the voicemail button field on the station form on their 2410's but the buttons actually do work and call Audix. What are the programming requirements for this? I know that works for IP sets based on the 46xxsettings but I'm not sure where these digital sets are getting this information.

I suggest you will need to add a "aut-msg-wt" button to the handset to get a visual lamp on a button.

Is that what you mean?

I'm referring to the envelope button on the phone that speedials vmail.

I don't have Audix...but on page 2 of the station form there is a "Audix Name" field. Maybe that has something to do with it?

I've noticed this, too, on my 2410 sets-- leave the 'Voicemail Number' field blank, and it'll usually still magically ring the voicemail hunt group number... I have reason to believe it does some trickery with the coverage path.

Because if that station's "Coverage Path" field is empty, it can no longer ring Voicemail by pressing that button (assuming the "Voicemail" field is also empty).
AND if you define a coverage path that doesn't ever terminate to Audix-- it won't ring Voicemail.

I think it looks into the station's coverage path and tries to find a termination point with a name referencing 'Audix'. Or maybe it's magic. A bit of refurbished magical fairy dust, left over from AT&T days, sprinkled on each system before it goes out the door.

That's what I thought as well but just wanted hear it from someone else. When switching over to a non-Audix vmail, the blank button stopped working and we had to manually set the vmail number onto all of the phones even though we reused the same hunt-group extension on the new system. A list trace when pressing the broken button said something like "cover path not an AUDIX hunt-group" so it must match up the audix destination from the Coverage Path. THANKS!!!!
