2 Servers with same IP

My original terminal server crashed and was unrecoverable. I since configured a replacement and given it the same IP as the original (for easy configuration purposes).

I deleted the original Server out of the AD and when I ping it, it still comes up with the original IP. How can I remedy this issue w/o changing the new TS's IP?

Go to a command prompt and type ipconfig /flushdns, then try to ping it. If you still get a response, remove it from your DNS Server.

Don't forget, you will get a response from pinging the old server name since the DNS entry points to the same IP Address you have assigned to your new server.

As mentioned by TweakMYBox, just remove the old name from DNS (assuming the new server is in DNS)

On the client...
ipconfig /flushcache

On the DNS Server

Delete the A record for the server (in dnsmgmt.msc)
net stop dnscache /y
net start dnscache
net stop dns /y
net start dns
net start netlogon

This removes all cached entries from client and the server, and should remedy and DNS server minor issues (like holding the cached data after is said it deleted it aarrggghhh!)
