I have a 2003 server installed on C partition. 16 bit application is on d, ntfs partition. xp pro clients logon to the domain and run the application.
The system is very slow. In addition it keeps hanging and booting people out.
The application used to run on an NT4 Server, and we did not experience these problems.
It is about 20/40 Per cent slower than the NT4 server.
any suggestions on how to resolve this problem are greatly appreciated.

you may want to load up netbeui on the server and one workstation to see if it makes any difference...

Also, many dos apps have preloaded settings (shell, paths etc) in order to run. Is your NT server still in existance? if so, check the settings, batch files, config and autoexec files.

Do you have a windows 98 workstation you can hook up and try? sometimes it's just a rights issue. Microsoft has taken the stance of "secure by default" with windows 2003 server...

Most 16 bit apps will run fine but sometimes you just have to fight with them a little.

Good luck

Hey Excaliber001,

Having a similar problem. We have most users running 16-bit Foxpro app via 2003 Terminal Services. It seems to be quite a bit slower at times, even via Terminal Server.

Generally past experience has shown that karmic is right, and that it is settings issues, etc. The frustrating part is figuring it out.

Did you ever find a decent solution for this, as I need to figure it out.

Thanks,

Mike
