I know this sounds extremely rudimentary but how do i start and stop mysql. i guess to start it i type /path/mysqld or should i be using safe_mysqld ? and how do i stop it because if i try that at the moment it just says cant do it cos the serevr is already running. ? cheers lee

I've found out that two things may help me, resetting the value for max_connections and table_cache, but how do i do that? if i change the values in the my_conf file then do i have to restart the server ? I'm also on a cobalt raq 550 and none of the files seem to be where i'd expect them ...
