I see now. If the IP were to go down, there would be no intermidiary between the transport and network access layers; this would literally render the Internet inoperable. Thanks for the link =)
I am currently in an Introduction to Networking class. We were asked to pick a protocol from the TCP/IP suite and write about it. I chose IP. I need to find out about a scenario.
What would happen is the Internet Protocol were to stop working?
