I'm more worried about what I would break by doing that. The guy that did the initial install apparently did that since it was the only way to route calls at the time and I don't get paid enough money to clean up his mess.
Just Upgraded 2 IP406v2 from 4.2(20) to 5.0(8). This system has been working for about 5 years flawlessly.
There are two systems in this SCN F1 and F2. F1 is the main site with the Manager/VMPro PC. F2 can check voicemail, make extension calls to people on F1. People from F1 cannot call F2...
I did upgrade directly to 4.2 from 3.0, but not through conventional means.
Today I went on site, saw the phones firmware had not upgraded. So naturally I upgraded the firmware on them after they finished restarting the were just trying to Discover the phone system. Not sure why new firmware...
Recently upgraded firmware on a 406v2 from 3.0(56) to 4.2(20). After the upgrade the IP phones continue to work, make calls out/ call other extensions, but they are unable to login to their extensions(used for hot desking). What am I missing here? And thanks in advance.

PC set to always On power scheme, never, never, never power options, no hibernation enabled. NIC card is set to always on.
