SOLVED!
I don't know if this could be of some help for someone, but all I did was reset BIOS to default settings.
After this some IP/DNS problems solved flushing DNS cache.

Assuming a bad NIC (it's on the M/B), my pc isn't the only one with this problem on the LAN. So i'm a little baffled...furthermore the other PC showed this issue after the use of a pen drive linux system (usb booted)...do you think there could be something related to this issue?

trying to logon to domain from my xp client, i got "network cable unplugged" but it's NOT. So i couldn't sync with shares on the server nor logon to it.
I followed MS http://support.microsoft.com/kb/910389, but didn't help, tried to reinstall drivers, to remove my profile...
subnet mask is 255.255.255.248, so I have only 6 IP to assign.
I can access shared folders from server to client, but i can't login into the client as Domain\Administrator (fool)
So I login as normal user and gain access to the shared folders on the server as Domain\Administrator....:O ???
In a small LAN (6 boxes) i changed IP addresses, 'cause we got a new ADSL line with static IP.
Now the router is xxx.xxx.xxx.1, the DC is xxx.xxx.xxx.4 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.248.
When I restarted the server, all things gone right except for one client.

Windows 2k3 domain, and some xp clients.
After an accidentally shutdown of his box, one of the users, could'nt logon to domain.
Xp boot normally, but after inserting userID and password, the screen seems to be stalled, no way to do anything else.
Now in safe mode Xp is too...
