We use Symantec's Backup Exec Desktop/Laptop Option which is very smart in how it backs up PST files. Instead of attempting to backup the entire file, it will recognise when an new item is added to the PST file and only copies that single change to the central store.
This is also very useful...
if its on an automatic download from MS - you can untick the download and OK - it will ask if you wish to ignore in future - just OK again and itll never bother you again.
I've seen this come through lately also.

Hi
We encounter a problem where one of our remote users comes into the office - and they end up losing their documents from their My Docs.
My Docs is redirected by GPO to a server share - which is set to be available offline with a 2GB limit (5% of HDD).
The user only has 100MB so I know...
thanks for all your help - i think i tried everything i could - it seems the hard drive was FUBAR and i didnt have one which would fit it.

You should be able to open the documents, and also 'save as' Microsoft Word documents. I have open office at home - but I am sure it just opens Word docs normally... Or should be able just to do an 'Open With...' by right clicking the docs.
I can't test now as I don't have it here, but I will...
Cheers all, I will try the suggestions above! :)
I did try to find a PC with a spare hard drive to see if the PC would boot off that instead, but ill see if i can find a PC to put the Vista hard drive into.
The strange thing is, if you keep attempting to "Start Windows Normally" after several...
Hello
I am trying to fix a colleagues home PC - it's on Vista (yuk!).

I have tried Safe Mode and it blue screens with a STOP...
Hello
We use Group Policy to redirect user folders to their space on our File Server.

It is only affecting one person, and the GP is still has the same...

One of my remote users is unable to scroll in any applications.

Hello

Hi Paul
He normally has internet access from his laptop, but I can unable to check the rest as its actually at the logon screen its giving him the error message.
The message is something along the lines of "The system cannot log you on, the "ZA" domain is unavailable. "
I then asked him to...
Not 100% sure if it will work, but if you ping the gateway using -a it should resolve the hostname if it is a PC as opposed to a router etc.
i.e. ping -a xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
Give it a go
