AD DNS Issue (Missing GLUE Records)

Hi all, does anyone know where the "GLUE" records reside for the _msdc folder. Using DNSLINT I'm getting the following errors. Note in my forward lookup zone I have all the A records for these DC's. The reverse zone has all pointer records as well, so there is no issue there. I also have a...

This should help you out. http://technet2.microsoft.com/WindowsServerSolutions/SBS/en/library/eca2caef-d7be-41c1-8cf8-02cf8681e84f1033.mspx?mfr=true

2008 Install - no DVD drive!

If it's an ISO image, just extract it onto your server and do what "DigitalCandy" said. I did an install on my laptop from within XP from the extracted ISO. You can't upgrade but you can keep your old directory structure provided that's what you want to do.

Try right clicking on start menu /properties/customize Remove Hyper-V if it shows as start menu option, I'm just guessing here.

    2008 works perfectly on HP/Compaq NC6120 Notebook

I actually used the second one you posted as a reference guide: http://blogs.msdn.com/vijaysk/archive/2008/02/11/using-windows-server-2008-as-a-super-desktop-os.aspx I'm quite impressed with it so far.

    2008 works perfectly on HP/Compaq NC6120 Notebook

In case anyone has one. This works nicely as a workstation. I installed as dual boot and then as single OS. All devices recognized except chipset inf, display adapter. I just went to HP and grabbed the Vista Business Edition drivers for those. Wireless works perfectly "you must enable it"...

    Apparently we're SPAMming...

Our IP got blacklisted even though it was static. Some blacklists were blocking a whole subnets from my ISP. I got the ISP to add reverse DNS for our IP , input SPF record, insured no relay, sent removal requests to the few blacklisting sites we were on. Problem solved.

Outlook Web Access times out and asks for authentication again

Are your branch offices connected via VPN? Is the timeout still the same if they check the "Private computer" option?

OLE error code 0x80070005: Access is denied??

Thanks, Problem solved and it's a weird one. I ran process analyzer and found the app was trying to run a Wshom.ocx file that was in my personal profile on the TS under documents and settings\myprofile\windows thus the access rights problem with domain users. I don't know how the hell that...

OLE error code 0x80070005: Access is denied??

Hi, I tried posting this in the TS forum, but nobody seems to have an answer. I have a Terminal Server with several applications. There are two applications that have a FoxPro back end. One day one of the apps started getting an error code "OLE error code 0x80070005: Access is denied" when...

Is a Phantom Line forwarding to SAD possible?

I have an outside person at a satellite office. They want a direct line at our office, but have that line forwarded to them. I created the SAD entry for the cell number. My 200ICP allowed me to create a device without having a phone plugged in and assign an extension. It will not allow me to...

    Windows Server 2003 - DNS

Both my Forward and Reverse zones propagate with my AD integrated. When you created the zone, was it a forward primary or secondary? I once created another primary zone for "Intranet" purpose and it propagated to the other server within 10 minutes. That is because it gives you the option of...

    Windows Server 2003 - DNS

Well you can do it manually or you can convert your existing to AD Integrated. Here's how - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/198437 Manual: If you want to do it manually. Select properties on your forward and reverse zones. Add your name secondary name server computer. Then go to the "Zone...

    Windows Server 2003 - DNS

For your second question, is this is Active Directory DNS you would need to have set your DNS as AD integrated when doing DCPROMO for your secondary domain controller. Any changes/updates would then propagate to your secondary DNS and vice versa. Here's a good how-to on how to do it correctly...

Bizarre Rights Problem on TS 2003 Sp2

Hi, I had an issue pop up midday where users couldn't launch a certain program that was residing on a remote server. The issue is affecting another app as well. It appears to be registry related. The one error they get is "Error: OLE error code 0x80070005: Access is denied" when launching the...

Change amount of rings before voicemail?

Thanks very much, I should have been a bit more specific, but you got me on the right path and have fixed the problem. I had to change the "Call Forward Don't Answer" timer setting. It was set at 2, which I switched to 5. I have our main number forwarding to another mailbox on an existing...
