Were your extensions and ports different?
Maybe your programming defaulted and the ports lined back up

Im getting a 271 error code followed by a 289 which resets the system.
event code 271 states "incomplete telephone firmware" but it doesnt state which telephone it comes from. As an action it asks to initiate a maintenance session. How do you that? Will this give me the problem extension...
I have a MICS that is restarting about once a day. We have ruled out external power being the problem.
Its showing Alarm codes: 270, 289 & 271
Does anyone know what these codes are or where I can buy a alarm code manual?

Sounds like a cable problem. The 10 foot shouldn't matter.
Ideally throw a tester on it and wire map the working circuit and copy it to the new cable.
If you make both cable connections identical to the original it should work.
You could also re-run the cable and make sure you aren't running...
Also note that if you have an air plenum ceiling you will need Plenum rated cable. An air plenum ceiling is where the cold air return goes through the ceiling space instead of a ducted return.

I would use one of these two flukes
DTX CableAnalyzer™ Series
Significantly reduce total time to certify with 9-second Cat 6 Autotest, Level IV Accuracy, 900 MHz, and intuitive troubleshooting. DTX - It's all about time!
DSP CableAnalyzer™ Series
Complete certification test set for copper...
Because of the scarcity of the PRI cards in the DVX+ series I would suggest staying away from them and using just a plain old T1 card. The DVX+ T1 cards seem to be much easier to source. You wouldnt want to install a PRI card then blow it and not be able to source another.
Hope that helps...
