That looks similar to what XMLSpy does. If you cut the length down to three does it truncate the text to 'str'? That would be the same functionality as XMLSpy.

I am currently using XMLSpy, and have generated a sample xml file from the schema using XMLSpy. This function does not give me the ability to fill in fields to their max length, if they have a max length restriction.
My goal is to test the boundry condition of exceeding the max length...
In the original snippet, the root element of the schema is job_foo. It has the child global_info (occurrs once) and child data (occurs 1 to N).
by "device" you mean to pull out the data element information and put it equal to job_foo in the xsd?
I am working on a schema for validating incoming XML data files. The basic form of the xml coming in should be:
<job_foo>
<global_info>
...
</global_info>
<data>
print data here
</data>
<data>
more print data
</data>
...more data tags...
