Hi,
We had several issues when trying to restore 5500 series switches using ASCII configs. As of then we recommend our customers to store both the binary and the ASCII file.

Take a good look before upgrading the switch to a later release. The 3.x releases are quite old and thus you could run into several issues like broken configs, unsupported modules (i.e. 8690/8691 with less than 256mb of memory) etc.
If you are not familiar with upgrading the switch from 3.x to...
If the switches are in the same room, i would advice to stack them and configure a DMLT. The 5510 series are not the best when using SMLT. Especially using older SW versions like 4.x!
Also a small note on the cisco config. I would configure the etherchannel with 'mode on' only as on other modes...
Hi,
check the system settings in the webbrowser. There you should be able to allow WAN ICMP reply, and also webmanagent on WAN interface, telnet/ssh/ftp acces.. etc.

Also check the total amount of consumed power. As these are your two last slots, i would definitely check the PSU rating.
During seating you will see in the log that the currently running software version is loaded to the module. If any errors will occur, the module will be disabled and...
ploughingon,
Are you using different spanningtree groups?
If ports are added to a specific STG which is different to the VLAN you are trying to apply (in this case VLAN 1) then it won't allow you to add the ports to the VLAN until you add the ports to the STG of the VLAN.

Hi gwebster,
thanks for your quick reply.
Unfortunately i am not able to find the doc you mentioned. I did find several config guides with large providers like AT&T, but i am working with a smaller company here in Holland.

Hi All,
I've been breaking my head on why nortel did not implement the standard SIP trunk to be able to connect to an external SIP provider.
Now i noticed release 5.0 is out. Does anyone know if the SIP trunking methods have changed? Is it possible to connect to external SIP providers now...
Hi Heros,
Are you using BCM version 3.0?
A lot was improved with SIP registration in 3.0.
In 2.0 i wasnt even able to fill in the log-in details.
Nevertheless i've got issues registering the 3.0 with a local SIP provider. Would be a charm if it worked though!
Cheers
Bas

I've noticed some people managed to get the trunk up and running.. Can anyone drop me some tips in setting it up?
I usually work with Nortel...
Hi All,
