I see a hunt group that has the t1 under "coverage Path". and if I call that extension group number it rings at the phone operator console. I think this should be the setting I was looking for. so this is not a vector. how can i modify this message so I can allow people to enter an extension...

Well the extension is an audix extension, you mean login to audix and do a display subscriber? I don't see this extension nowhere else.
