How Many Conference Calls On MICS PRI

BCM 200/400 4.0 and BCM 50 3.0 allow ad-hoc conference. This increases the BCM 200/400 capacity to 40 and the BCM 50 capacity to 18. This may be one conference or many, (for example a BCM 50 may have a 10 party conference and a 8 party conference simultaneously).

Max distance on a BCM 4.0

Deweyhumbolt, keep in mind that the distance is dependant upon the loop resistance. 2600 feet is the expected distance for a TDM set, only if the loop resistance is 64 ohms. The distances/loops in my chart are based on 24AWG (0.5 mm) wire. I should have included this assumption with my chart...

    MICS 7.1 renumbering

If you use a Start DN of 401, your Hunt Groups are 867 to 916, hence 9 is not available. You should never use 3 digit local on a MICS, because of this sort of problem. I always recommend a minimum of 4 digit locals.

BCM 50 3.0 Analog Trunks Not Disconnecting

It sounds as if one of your lines does not have Disconnect Supervision (COD)on it at the CO. Trunk to Trunk transfer as you are using, requires Disconnect Supervision on the incomming line. If one of your lines does not have DS, incomming calls on that line using trunk to trunk transfer will...

    Number of IP Sets

A 6/2 split provides 58 Signalling Channels, a 5/3 Split provides 90 Signalling Channels. Some documentation will lead you to believe that this is the IP set capacity; theoretically yes, realistically, no. Each Voice Processing (Voice Mail, AA, ACD) Voice Channel requires a Signalling Channel...

    BCM page output

Ensure that you are using a Stereo Plug wired to the Tip and Ring, not a Mono Plug. The page output is on the Tip and Ring of the jack, while the Sleeve is grounded. If you use a Mono Plug, you will ground the Ring side of the output.

day light saving question on version 7.1

7.1 provides three DST options of None, Standard and Extended. The default is Standard. North America is using Extended. I think that most people upgraded to 7.1 for Extended DST, but did not realize that the default is still Standard.

    Extending digital sets

Loop limit spec for ATA (no Bridge taps, no Loading coils) is 200 Ohms for Data applications or 1300 Ohms for Voice applications. With 24 AWG this is 1135 meters (3850 feet) for data or 7375 meters (25,025 feet) for voice. 26 AWG would be less. Distances over 1300 ohms for voice require loop...
