    Remote Access for multiple clients

I have never setup a VPN before, so I'm not sure how to do this. Is it setup in RRAS and would it then point to a particular PC? Could More than 1 person at a time access it, similar to a terminal server session? Thanks, Mike

    Remote Access for multiple clients

HI, We have a network that consistes of a Windows 2008 Enterpise Server acting as the DC, 2 Windows 2003 Standard Servers (1 file server and 1 DB server). I have sales people in the field that need to access some of the files on the file server, possibly at the same time. The file server...

Login problem after 2003 to 2008 upgrade

Yes to all of the above. The clients all use DHCP to get the DNS server etc. and the DHCP server has the new server listed as the DNS server. I checked their configs to make sure they had gotten updated with the new DHCP info. I noticed another item, The Windows 2003 SBS server has a folder in...

Login problem after 2003 to 2008 upgrade

Hi, I upgraded our DC from 2003 SBS to 2008 Enterpride the other day and I had a couple of problems. First let me say that this was done on a new server. I promoted the new server to a DC and ra nit for about a week on the current domain and made sure everything updtaed properly. Saturday I...

    SBS 2003 to @008 Enterprise

KZN, Creating a new domain would be a last resort for us. We are not going to use Exchange Server, which is currently disabled on SBS, so if I can just get the new DC to handle the security, group policies, RRAS, DNS etc. I think I should be good. My main concern is transferring the FSMO roles...

Thanks, I have WINS on the existing DC (was setup before I started here) so I thought I woould keep. What about RRAS, will it transfer everything over as well? Thanks, Mike

    SBS 2003 to @008 Enterprise

OK, I have got the new server and I just loaded Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise. Can I add all the required roles, DHCP, DNS RRAS, WINS, IIS etc, before I join it to the domain and make it a DC, or will that all transfer over from the current DC (SBS 2003)? Thanks, Mike

    SBS 2003 to @008 Enterprise

Thanks for all the advice, I also was wondering if the Routing and Remote Access would transfer over as well or if I need to re-create it. 58Sniper, we are going with Enterprise for 2 reasons, first we got a killer deal on the software, but were also looking at clustering in the future. As...

    SBS 2003 to @008 Enterprise

Hi, I need to install a new server running 2008 Enterprise and make it the PDC. We are currently running 3 servers, the current PDC is running win2K3 SBS, the file server is win2K3 Enterprise and the Data Base server is win2K3 Standard. We are using DNS, DHCP, WINS, Routing and remote Access...

    Cluster Server Configuration

I am going to install a cluster server with 2 nodes. The Microsoft paper recommends 2 mass storage device controllers (SCSI). Will SATA ports (qty 6) built onto the mother board work in place of the SCSI controllers? Thanks, Michael D. Winn

Cluster server on different versions of windows server

OK So I was able to order 2 copies of Windows 2003 R2 Enterprise, but 1 will be used to upgrade my R2 standard to R2 Enterprise. And the other will be a new install on a new Server. Unfortunately I cannot find the same server Mother Board so the hardware will not be exactly the same. Does the...

    Win2K3 Standard R2 to Enterprise

OK, I tried this. I loaded a hard drive with Windows 2003 R2 Standard and then tried to upgrade to Windows 2003 Enterprise (not R2) and it told me it could not perform the upgrade because the existing version was newer than the one I was trying to install. So it looks like I have to go with...

    Win2K3 SBS Login Scripts

OK that explains it, but how do I modify it if I want to add things to it or should I just create a seperate login script to take it's place?

    Win2K3 SBS Login Scripts

I actually did try to run it with out the /s switch and it said it needed to know what server. The /s swith simply tells it which server to use.
